Travel Advice
If you're heading to see the Autumn Internationals in Cardiff, our services will be running throughout the day and into the evening to help you make the most of your day.
We're expecting our network to be busier than usual and so we'll have extra capacity in place, in particular with larger buses planned where we think they will be most needed. Many city centre roads will be closed in preparation for the events, meaning although we'll get as close as we can to the usual stops, you may need to catch your bus at a different location - for a full summary visit our City Centre Events page or check individual timetables (these have been updated for the 10th & 17th so remember to choose the correct date, and the 23rd will follow soon).
Traffic on event days is always heavy and unpredictable, so although we're doing our best to avoid bottlenecks and keep things as punctual as possible, please take this into consideration and allow extra time for your journey. In particular on Sunday the 10th, with significant roadworks, and a series of smaller Remembrance Sunday closures, and so your journey may be impacted in other ways too. For time-sensitive journeys, please consider catching an earlier bus.
We'll have extra staff in the city centre to help keep things moving, so look out for our supervisors in the orange hi-vis vests if you need a hand.
Here's some tips to help you make the most of the day...
If you're looking to take in some local food & drink, you can find a great selection of pubs, bars & restaurants in the city centre, but if you're looking for somewhere further afield then we have some hand-picked suggestions. Cardiff Bay is less than a 10 minute ride from the city centre on the Baycar, and includes a selection of pubs, restaurants and some historic spots & family-friendly places to visit. Canton & Victoria Park offer a varied selection of restaurants, and some of Cardiff's finest Pies as well as selection of hidden gems across the bridge on Paper Mill Road, all a short ride from the city centre on the 13, 17/18 or 32.
On the Cardiff Bus app, you can also use our journey planner and see our buses in real time, and you can buy your tickets in advance so all you need to do on the day is activate the tickets as you're about to hop on board. We offer discounted Family and Group tickets if you're travelling together, and you can use Tap On Tap Off for our adult day tickets to be sure you get the best value.
There's a whole host of wonderful attractions to visit and experiences to try within the city centre. Check out our things to do pages for some good options, including the free to enter National Museum, the historic Cardiff Castle, the artsy Norwegian Church and the iconic Wales Millennium Centre.
