Half term is a great opportunity to spend some quality time as a family and with Cardiff Bus, you’ll never run out of things to do. We’ve found the best places to go this half term, so you don’t have to so keep reading, we have something for everyone!

Are you an active family? Well, these are the places for you!
Hop on any of our city centre routes down to the exciting escape room experience in the heart of Cardiff. This 60-minute activity is suitable for groups of up to 14 people, so it’s perfect to get the family’s adrenaline going! Liberating yourself and your team from the escape room can only be completed through teamwork and rational thinking. Are you up for the challenge of finding all the clues and hidden objects to escape?
For boat rides around Cardiff, head down to Cardiff Bay on services 1, 2, 5, 6 or 8 for voyages around the Bay, the Bristol Channel and Steep Holm Island. This is the perfect chance to see the connecting areas to Cardiff while getting some fresh sea air!
Enjoy the freedom of half term at Infinity Trampoline Park Cardiff! Hop on services 1, 2, 11 or catch any bus to Newport Road and enjoy a short walk to Infinity Trampoline Park Cardiff. Activate an adrenaline rush by bouncing around over 70 interconnected trampolines. If you’re more competitive, Infinity Trampoline Park has just what you need. With their very own basketball lanes and dodgeball arena, you can compete against your family somewhere very different to the gym!
It is spooky season after all so here are some Halloween attractions that you and the family can get to with Cardiff Bus.

From 29th October – 6th November 2022 St Fagans are inviting you and your family to take part in a spooky Halloween trail. Follow the clues hidden around the museum and grounds to find all the pumpkins. These won’t take any spells to find, only teamwork will help you finish the trail!

On Saturday 29th October 2022 from 1pm-4pm, Future Inns will be hosting a Halloween-inspired afternoon tea providing fun and sweet treats for all the family. You will be joined by the notorious villains Cruella Devil and Maleficent for this spooky afternoon. There are a range of prizes on offer for the best fancy dress and pumpkins. There’s still plenty of time to prepare and make sure that you are the spookiest of them all!

Spooky season is the best time for a party! Head down to Soraya’s Cocktails & Desserts between 12 – 1:30pm on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October for some Halloween fun this half term. You can take part in a range of activities such as pumpkin carving, Halloween party games and a fancy dress competition and finish the day with some boo-tiful sweet treats!

Catch a Cardiff bus to Barry for the spooky Trick or Treat Trail this half term. Your family day ticket will cover you to travel to the multiple locations along the trail. There will be a range of family attractions such as fabulous facepainting, street entertainment, competitions, and a strong sense of community. This spook-tacular event is not one to be missed so secure your ticket now for a scarily fun night with the family!
Half term is an excellent opportunity for some sight seeing in and around Cardiff!
We all know it and we all love it, so why not head down to Barry Island on service 95 this half term for a day filled with family fun? From beaches to pleasure parks, you won’t run out of things to do in Barry this half term. An autumn stroll on the beach could be just what you need to blow the cobwebs of the school term away (and it will definitely blow them away!). Grab a hot drink and explore all that Barry Island has to offer with Cardiff Bus this half term.
Hop on any route to the city centre and submerge yourself in over 2000 years of history at Cardiff Castle this half term. From wandering the castle grounds to searching for secrets in the castle walls, there is something for everyone at Cardiff Castle. There are a range of Halloween film showings in Cardiff Castle’s Halloween Cinema such as Hocus Pocus, Paranorman and The Nightmare Before Christmas, you’d be a ghoul to miss it!
Just because the schools are off doesn’t mean that you can’t learn something this half term! Head down to the National Museum Cardiff on any bus to the city centre for exciting exhibitions and memorable masterpieces. This is a great (and free!) day out for all the family to enjoy. With immersive experiences and interactive learning activities, you are sure to keep your family entertained here!

Whether you’re a show goer, enjoy music or just want to try something new, the Wales Millennium Centre is the place for you! With a range of different events suitable for all the family you are guaranteed to find something to do with the family. You can learn something new about Cardiff community and culture as well as see an authentic show from the Millennium Centre’s own productions. Catch a bus with us to Cardiff Bay this half term and see for yourself!
If you’d rather spend your half term relaxing and taking in the scenery, Cardiff Bus knows the perfect places you can visit!
Pop down to Penarth and wander through Alexandra Park with the family this half term. Not only does it have gorgeous greenery and beautiful botanicals, but you can also walk through Alexandra Park to reach the Penarth Pier overlooking the Bristol Channel! Hop on a Cardiff Bus, travelling on routes 7, 92, 92B, 93 and 94 to Penarth and enjoy both nature and the seaside in one!
Head over to Cosmeston Park on route 94 and wander through over 100 hectares of land where you can see a wide range of rare plant variations and animal species. If you’re looking for somewhere to take your little ones, Cosmeston Park has an adventure playground to keep them entertained. There are also multiple picnic areas to enjoy a family lunch together after a day of adventure and exploring! In keeping with the Halloween spirit, on 22nd, 23rd, 26th and 27th October, Cosmeston Lake will be hosting a spookily fun night for all the family so make sure to check out this after dark experience this half term.
Hop on any route to the city centre and explore part of the 55 miles that make up the Taff Trail for a rural retreat this half term. Along the way you will encounter different natural spectacles such as riverside paths and forest roads as well as man-made railway paths. This is a great route to walk through and there are plenty of places for you to stop for a picnic! You can join the Taff Trail at various points in Cardiff, such as Cardiff Bay and the city centre.
If you’ve never visited Tredegar Park, this half term is the time to go! Explore the gorgeous green fields and enjoy the fresh air over 90 acres of land, but that’s not all. Why not see what’s on at Tredegar House? With activities ranging from harvest trails to farm tours and craft workshops to get you in the autumn spirit, there is something for everyone in Tredegar Park! You can get there on route 30.
