Cardiff
One of the most impressive icons of modern Wales
Cardiff’s state-of-the-art Principality Stadium (previously known as the Millennium Stadium) and featuring a fully retractable roof is the home of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU). Described by the WRU as “the best rugby venue in the world”, it can be visited on a behind-the-scenes tour with one of our experienced tour guides that leaves you with a keen sense of the huge scale and national standing of this most impressive site.
Tours explore all levels of the stadium, from the Ray Gravell Press Room, deep in the bowels of the terraces, to the VIP Hospitality Suites overlooking the verdant turf below. You can discover the 2017 UEFA Champions League football dressing rooms and have plenty of great photo opportunities along the way, such as standing by your favourite team member’s shirt or raising a trophy in a victorious pose in the President’s Box, an area normally reserved for Royalty. For many, the highlights of the tour are visiting the atmospheric “Dragon’s Lair”, Wales’ home dressing room and hearing the roar of 74,500 fans as they walk down the players tunnel towards the hallowed turf. The tour guides are knowledgeable and entertaining and even those visitors not passionate about sport will be caught up in the spirit of Welsh patriotism that the stadium evokes.
All tours start from the WRU Shop, Westgate Street opposite the NCP Car Park. To book a tour visit the website at www.principalitystadium.wales/tours
