Card Clash - Don't pay twice

Don't pay twice…

Our ticket machines have been designed to accept a variety of cards and passes, ensuring a seamless experience for all of our customers. However, sometimes this can lead to a card clash.

A card clash is where our contactless payment system unintentionally connects to a payment card stored in a phone case or a card enabled on a mobile device, instead of the intended mobile ticket for example, Apple pay.

To avoid this, we recommend keeping credit and debit cards separate from concessionary passes and mobile tickets.

How do I do this?

  • Removing your phone from its case when scanning a mobile ticket.
  • Temporarily disabling your phone’s NFC function to prevent unintended contactless payments.

If a payment card is accidentally charged instead of a pass or mobile ticket, please contact our customer service team. A full refund will be issued upon providing proof of a valid mobile ticket or pass for the journey in question.
