Christmas Park & Ride

1 week ago Fri 29th Nov 2024

A Park & Ride service at Pierhead Street multi-storey car park will open to the public from Saturday (November 30) to make Christmas shopping in Cardiff an easier and more enjoyable experience for all, running every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.

FOR Cardiff & Cardiff Council have worked together to put the plans in place and are encouraging anyone travelling by car into the city to go Christmas shopping to use the facility, as a convenient alternative to driving into the city centre. We'll be providing extra buses on the Baycar to help offer a smooth journey and connect the Park & Ride to the festive attractions and shopportunities in the city centre and to help city centre shoppers with easy speedy links down to Cardiff Bay too.

How to use Christmas Shoppers P&R

Head to Q Park on PIerhead Street - CF10 4PH or What Three Word ////photos.dimes.closes  You park and pay as usual here.  You will be given  a travel voucher for the bus journey to and from the city centre.  Show this to your driver of bus route 6 (baycar) when you board and let us do the driving - it's that easy!

From Cardiff Bay use the bus stop at the Wales Millennium Centre and from the city centre use Canal Street (Rear of Central Library  opp. Marriott Hotel).

Emily Cotterill, Associate Director at FOR Cardiff said:

“The start of the festive period marks a busy and exciting time for Cardiff as a major shopping destination. We want as many people as possible to use the park and ride service to make Christmas shopping enjoyable for everyone while relieving road congestion and pressure on often oversubscribed car parks in the city centre.”

“It couldn’t be easier, park your car at the Pierhead multi-storey car park, behind the Wales Millennium Centre, and pay for your parking at the standard rate on arrival. You’ll then be given a token to take the bus into the city centre and back and directed to the stop outside the Millennium Centre. The Park and Ride service will drop you off at Canal Street, near John Lewis and the Marriott hotel.”
