Shop local this Christmas
This Christmas support your local high street and Cardiff’s independent shops.
Cardiff is known as the City of Arcades due to its network of Victorian and Edwardian arcades nestled amongst the high streets. The city’s 7 arcades provide an almost maze-like shopping experience with independent cafes, bars and shops around every corner– perfect for a Christmas shopping trip.
Whilst you’re in the city centre, head over to the Hayes to Cardiff’s Christmas markets. Wooden stalls are filled with handmade crafts produced by local exhibitors until Monday 23rd of December.
The 7th of December is Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate our local high streets. At Cardiff Bus we’re proud to offer a comprehensive network around Cardiff, not just to the city centre. Hop on the bus to a different part of the city, perhaps Rhiwbina, Whitchurch, Wellfield Road or even to Penarth and Barry to show your support to local small businesses this Christmastime. You’ll also help the local environment by catching the bus, as a single decker could take up to 40 cars of the road! Use our journey planner to help you find the best route.
If you’re travelling as a group, save money with either our family or group tickets. On weekends and during school holidays, families of up to 2 adults and 3 young persons can purchase family tickets at the reduced rate of just £5.50 in Cardiff and Penarth, £4.70 in Barry or £8 across our entire network. Our group ticket allows 5 people of any age to travel together for just £10 in Cardiff and Penarth.
Take a look at our network map here to see where we operate. If you’re still not sure, we’ve compiled a list of some local high streets with independent shops and the bus routes that travel there.
